Agriculture Mechanics 1
Not open to 12th grade students. First year agriculture course. Overview of agriculture mechanics including basic skills in arc welding and oxyacetylene cutting , woodworking, rope work, electricity, and other vocational skills. In addition, learners will gain experience through leadership development, SAE projects and career exploration in the area of agriculture.
Agriculture Mechanics 2A & 2B
Ag Mech 2 A: Pre-requisite: Sophomore, junior or senior student who has passed Ag Mechanics I with a grade of “C” or better. Continuation of the mechanics program with a full semester devoted to small engines. FFA and student projects will also be covered. The course content will include: Engine theory, parts identification, engine assembly, engine disassembly, precision measuring tools, leadership activities, student projects, record keeping, shop safety, and shop manuals. Note: Ag Mechanics II A or Ag Mechanics II B may be taken in any order or students may elect to take only one of the two courses.
Ag Mech 2 B: Pre-requisite: Sophomore, Junior or senior student who has passed Ag Mechanics I with a grade of “C” or better. Continuation of mechanics program with one semester devoted to intermediate arc welding. The course content will include Oxy-acetylene welding, MIG welding, sheet metal work, welding theory, bills of materials, shop drawings, shop safety, painting, student projects, record keeping, and leadership activities. Note: Ag MechanicsII A or Ag Mechanics II B may be taken in any order or students may elect to take only one of the two courses.
Welding
Pre-requisite: Junior or senior student. Course includes planning, construction, use and maintenance of agriculture equipment. Students will be expected to develop plans and complete construction of various small or large projects. In addition, learners will gain experience through leadership development, SAE projects and career exploration in the area of agriculture. Fulfills fine art graduation requirement for high school.
