SPEAKING TEAMS
Career Development Events (CDE’s) are opportunities for students to build technical skills in agriculture while also developing interpersonal skills that will benefit them in the future.
Public speaking, confidence, team work, and responsibility are just a few of the characteristics students will gain while participating in CDE’s. These students will have the opportunity to compete against other FFA members from around the state at various contest sites, some of which are college campuses.
No prior experience is necessary to participate in these teams, students will learn everything they need to know through practices and also participation in contests.
Below is a list of teams typically coached by Exeter FFA advisors.
Judging teams vary year to year based on the amount of interest shown by the students.
FALL
Opening & Closing Ceremonies
Coaches: Kevy Mendes, Shelly Lyons, Lauren Pepe

The opening & closing team requires students to memorize the speaking parts of the six constitutional officers when opening and closing an official meeting. Students will be scored on memorization of lines, uniformity, and public speaking.
SPRING
Creed Speaking
Coach: Kevy Mendes

The creed speaking contest is exclusive to freshman. Students are asked to memorize and recite the 5 paragraphs of the FFA Creed. After recitation, the student is then asked a series of questions related to the creed or agriculture. Students will be scored on memorization and how they answer questions.
